How do I reformat a HP laptop?

To make a fresh start on your HP laptop, it’s a good idea to reformat the complete data on the hard drive including the operating system. Please note that Windows doesn’t allow a user to format discs or its partitions until they are not in use. The process can be pursued either with the hidden partition on the hard drive or from a recovery disc. The instructions are as follows:

Take your Windows Installation CD, place it into the laptop and then restart your system.
Now, when you see this message “Press any key to boot from CD” press any key on the keyboard to start the Windows installation process.
Continue through the installation process following on-screen instructions until you get to the “Where do you wish to install Windows?” message on the screen.
Now, select Drive options link located above the Next button.
Select any partitions you wish to remove if you have partitioned HP’s hard drive; select Delete link. Verify your decision when asked about it. Repeat the same process to delete any other partition.
Choose the partition you want to format and select the Format link in the advanced list.
Once this is done, you have to select Quick Format as the formatting type. Also, select NTFS as the file format.
Click OK button to format the HP’s laptop hard drive. Now, this is user’s choice to continue with the Windows installation or exit the procedure. It’s suggested to continue with the Windows installation because a laptop without an O.S will not function beyond the basic startup process.
